KISS Outstanding Student Paper Awards

Up to four KISS Outstanding Student Paper Awards will be given this year to assist students in traveling to JSM in Vancouver to present a paper. Each winner will be presented with a certificate and a check for $500 at the Korean International Statistical Society Annual Meeting on Monday evening, July 30, 2018.

Eligibility

To be eligible, a student must be a KISS member, a degree candidate at an accredited institution in any term during the 2017-2018 academic year or a recent graduate who obtained the degree in 2017, and able to present a paper during JSM in Vancouver, Canada (July 28 – Aug 2, 2018). Reported research should be the work of the student and relevant to any field of statistics. The paper must not be published or accepted for publication at the time of submission.

Review Criteria

Papers will be judged according to the following criteria:

  • Motivation for the research problem
  • Methodological innovation
  • Potential impact to the relevant field of statistics
  • Clarity and style of presentation

Text should be double-spaced, 12 point font, and not exceed 25 pages (excluding references). A separate title page and abstract should also be included.

Application Process

A copy of the paper and the candidate’s CV must be emailed No Later Than 11:59 p.m.  EDT April 30, 2018 to the KISS Executive Director, Dr. Kiseop Lee (kiseop at purdue dot edu).  All applications will be evaluated by the KISS Awards Committee chaired by Dr. Donsig Jang and winners will be notified by the end of May.
