2020 KISS Outstanding Student Paper Awards
JSM 2020 will be virtual due to COVID19, so KISS had made changes in this year’s award procedure. We extend the deadline to May 31, and the student should present his/her paper virtually in JSM 2020. Up to four KISS Outstanding Student Paper Awards will be given this year to assist students who virtually present a paper at JSM 2020. A certificate will be mailed to a winner with presented with a $500 check.
To be eligible, a student must be a KISS member, a degree candidate at an accredited institution in any term during the 2019-2020 academic year or a recent graduate who obtained the degree in 2019. A student does not need to present at JSM this year any more, but should be able to present at the virtual KISS session (TBA). Reported research should be the work of the student and relevant to any field of statistics. The paper must not be published or accepted for publication at the time of submission.
Papers will be judged according to the following criteria:
- Motivation for the research problem
- Methodological innovation
- Potential impact to the relevant field of statistics
- Clarity and style of presentation
Text should be double-spaced, 12 point font, and not exceed 25 pages (excluding references). A separate title page and abstract should also be included.
A copy of the paper and the candidate’s CV must be emailed No Later Than 11:59 p.m. EDT MAY 31, 2020 to the KISS Executive Director, Dr. Kiseop Lee (firstname.lastname@example.org). All applications will be evaluated by the KISS Awards Committee chaired by Dr. Moonjung Cho and winners will be notified by the end of June.
